Bed Bugs in Public Places

It's not very likely that a bed bug infestation will develop in an church, classroom, or other non-residential environment. However, these sites can serve as transfer hubs for bed bugs to hitchhike a ride into your home. Management, staff, students and workers all have roles to play in reducing the spread of bed bugs.

  • Churches

Churches, like any other gathering places, can sometimes face the unwelcome presence of bed bugs. These tiny insects, known for their ability to hitchhike on people and belongings, can quickly infest various areas within a church.

Churches that use fabric chairs have to be extra careful to control bed bugs. These pests are attracted to fabric and can easily hide in the folds of material.

  • Daycares & Schools

Although bed bugs are typically thought to be a household pest, they can hitchhike with students, teachers and faculty into schools and classrooms.

Here are a few tips to prevent bringing bed bugs home from school:
     - Make a habit of inspecting your child's backpack and jacket every day when they return home.
     - Remove their school clothes and if possible wash them in hot water right away.
     - Make sure your children share with you if they know of any friends who report bed bug infestations in their home.

Our dogs are trained to detect bed bugs and are far more accurate than human-eye test. They can inspect a room in minutes with visual confirmation from their handler. We are certified through the Wisconsin Pest Control Association and the National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association.
